Flax Seed Tea and Cellulite

Flax Seed Tea and Cellulite

Cellulite is a very common problem, more often affecting women, but also affecting a large number of men.

And no, it doesn’t just affect people who are bit overweight: skinny people can suffer from cellulite, too.

This means that no one is safe from developing those unsightly dimples on their thighs and buttocks.

However, because it is so common a problem that affects a majority of people all around the world, plenty of research has been conducted to find out how to either prevent or completely get rid of cellulite.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is the name given to lipid boxes that are stacked on the subcutaneous level – that just means that they’re under the skin.

We all have fat under our skin, whether we are a size six or a size sixteen, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that we will develop cellulite.

However, if you start to eat particularly fatty or salty foods, your lipid boxes can start to thicken, squashing the fat up towards the surface of the skin and causing that dimpled, mottled look on your thighs and buttocks.

How do you get rid of cellulite?

There are no wonder creams to get rid of cellulite, but there are easy and quick ways to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

One of these is by eating the right things. Health experts actually say that we can completely reverse the appearance of cellulite through the right sort of diet.

Ensuring that you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, get plenty of fiber and roughage and that you eat enough seeds and nuts can really help you tackle your cellulite without having to change the way you live.

Specialist foods

There are actually foods out there that are particularly well known for their ability to reduce the appearance of cellulite or prevent it from developing.

These foods contain nutrients and minerals that target the lipid boxes beneath the skin and also help to strengthen the skin. One of these foods is flax seed oil.

Flaxseed oil

Flaxseed oil is naturally rich in omega3 and omega 6 fatty acids. These are well known to hydrate cells – they draw water into dehydrated cells and then work with the cells to keep water in.

Flaxseed oil can also help to rebuild cell membranes, making them stronger, more supple and less likely to develop cellulite.

The body is unable to make these fatty acids, which means that you have to introduce them into your diet by increasing your intake of flaxseed oil.

Essential fatty acids don’t just help get rid of cellulite: they also boast a multitude of other health benefits.

In fact, some scientific research suggests that these fatty acids may actually help to prevent some cancers and reduce cholesterol levels.

Flaxseed is rich in many different vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and fiber, all of which can help the intestines work properly.

Flaxseed can also help to flush out toxins and harmful compounds; it can reduce the levels of blood sugar in the body and reduces the appetite as well, which can help with losing weight.

So how can you get flax seed oil into your diet? There are a number of ways to add flax seed oil as an ingredient to your cooking, including using it as a dressing for salads to add both flavor and goodness or even sprinkling it over your cereal or oatmeal for an extra punch and depth of flavor.

Flaxseed tea

Another way to get flax seed oil into your daily diet is to learn how to make flax seed tea.

This sort of tea is easy enough to prepare for yourself, although nowadays more and more health stores are offering it pre-prepared.

As well as helping you to lose weight in a healthy and controlled way, flax seed tea will target your cellulite and help to either prevent it from developing or help you get rid of it.

Another benefit of flax seed tea is the fact that is perfectly safe for people who have recently had surgery or that suffer from stomach ulcers, hemorrhoids, cystitis or gastritis, with no nasty side effects or other things to worry about.

To make your flax seed tea you will need:

  • three generous tablespoons of flaxseed oil
  • one liter of boiling water

Preparation method:

Pour the boiling water over three tablespoons of flaxseed. It’s better to brew your flax seed tea in the evening, leaving it to infuse overnight.

You can use a Thermos to keep it warm, but if you do not have one, simply use any sort of bowl or other containers that can contain boiling hot liquid and cover it with a suitable lid.

Next morning, strain the mixture using a tea strainer or a material of a fine mesh. The liquid should be thick and viscous. You can then drink 150 ml of the remedy three or four times each day.

This is best done half an hour before each meal and perhaps before bed. You can prepare more tea each evening so that it is ready to be consumed the next day, but to be effective you must make sure that you do not leave the tea for any more than a day or it will lose its potency.

The best results will come if you drink the flax seed tea three to four times a day for ten days straight then have a ten-day break. This can be repeated as many times as necessary until you start seeing results.

Even if you do not suffer from cellulite, flax seed tea can be drunk and have numerous health benefits as well as helping to prevent cellulite from developing at all.

By regularly consuming flax seed tea, you will soon notice changes to your skin: it will soon become healthier and more elastic, which means that, if you are losing weight at the same time, it will not be loose.

When drinking flax seed tea, you should also make sure to drink plenty of water to help the process along and to see improved results.

  1. I know very little about flax seed tea but it sounds extremely beneficial to the skin and overall health. Overall I think I’m a pretty healthy person, but like anyone I have my problem areas that no matter how healthy I am or how much I exercise just don’t seem to make a huge amount of difference. This is definitely something I’ll look into because at the end of the day, what’s the harm in trying. Thanks for sharing this great tip!

I have heard non stop comments on how flax seed is the new superfood, and have been told that it is awesome for digestion, so I was already looking into adding it to our diet. The fact that it may help with cellulite only strengthens my decision to go ahead and try it!

  3. Flaxseed drink is also a great remedy to lose weight and reduce the appearance of cellulite. My mother is using it and there seem some noticeable results. Hope she will soon get a complete reduction.
